I came through the boot camp in June 2009 sponsored by my best friend after I had hit bottom. I wanted to die. I was in so much pain emotionally, had it not been for the fact that I am a mother to two fantastic boys, I would’ve ended my life. This was a last-ditch effort for me and out of sheer desperation I went. I didn’t know what I wanted or expected. Only that I wanted to be different when I walked out of those doors for the final time on Saturday night. The transformation that took place in me was beyond my wildest imagination. I learned to forgive and let go of my past; something that had weighed me down for years. Hour by hour and day by day, the anger and the guilt and shame melted away and I became someone who could love, but more importantly, be loved.
